Preparing Your Paper

Structure

Your paper should be compiled in the following order:

1. Title page
2. Abstract (200 words)
3. 3-5 Keywords
4. Main text introduction, materials & methods, results, discussion
5. Acknowledgements
6. Declaration of interest statement
7. References
8. Appendices (as appropriate)
9. Table(s) with caption(s) (on individual pages)
10. Figures
11. Figure captions (as a list)

Article Types & Word Limits

• Research articles (approximately 8,000 words) – Original research articles from scholars drawing on empirical research using quantitative and qualitative work
• Review articles (12,000 words or less) – Longer articles that provide an extensive review of the existing literature, related to the aims and scope of this journal, and offer insights into future direction of research in the discipline.
• Perspective manuscripts (4,000 words or less) – Shorter articles that provide a critical analysis on a specific topic within the scope of this journal, inviting other scholars to write replies. Perspectives are adequately cited and positioned within the discipline. 

Authors of review articles and perspectives should contact the editors prior to submitting their manuscripts to access suitability. It is the intention of the journal to review significant contributions under these article types.

Style Guidelines

Please…

• Refer to these quick style guidelines when preparing your paper, rather than any published articles or a sample copy.
• Use American spelling style consistently throughout your manuscript.
• Use double quotation marks, except where “a quotation is ‘within’ a quotation”.
• Note that long quotations should be indented without quotation marks.

Formatting & Templates

Papers may be submitted in Word format.

You are welcome to use one of the pre-formatted Word templates provided by Taylor & Francis or format the paper on your own using the quick style guidelines while giving extra attention to:

• Font:  Times or Times New Roman font in size 12 with double-line spacing (including indented material and references)
• Margins:  At least 1 inch (2.5cm)
• Figures:  Figures should be saved separately from the text.

Using Third-Party Material

You must obtain the necessary permission to reuse third-party material in your article. The use of short extracts of text and some other types of material is usually permitted., on a limited basis, for the purposes of criticism and review without securing formal permission. If you wish to include any material in your paper for which you do not hold copyright, and which is not covered by this informal agreement, you will need to obtain written permission from the copyright owner prior to submission.
